Fiddle Leaf Fig

Help with big tree

Need help all around :
– how much water in a 22” nursery pot (yes it has drainage)
– is it getting enough light (south facing window- the only place I had room for it)
– what are these brown spots
– should I snip the tops to have them branch out
– are there too many stems/trunks(?) growing in the pot
– how many leaves can I trim off and not shock the tree
– should I trim the lower leaves
– should I propagate some of the skinnier “shoots”
THANKS!

Beautiful! Did you just bring this one home?

First thing you need to do is watch for bugs. If you see any hint of pests, take him outside to give him a thorough shower with a hose and then apply a treatment to kill them off. There are a ton of options out there so do your research now to figure out what works best for you.

Second, let the plant settle before you do anything else – just moving it to a new home is enough of a shock for FLFs. Give it a month or so to get used to it’s new air temp, humidity levels, light levels, etc.

Third, while the plant settles, observe it and do some research to learn about FLFs. There are a lot of resources out there that can give you tips, but each plant is different, so take what you learn and see how it can be adapted to support your tree.
