Help, I don’t know what plant this is but she’s my baby and she’s sick

I recently adopted this plant, but I don’t know exactly how to take care of her because I don’t know what she is. Lately her leaves have been getting brown like this and I’m not sure why. Any help is greatly appreciated! She gets a decent amount of light, but I don’t put her outside as often as I should because I didn’t know if the sun was burning the leaves. Water her once a week.

    That is a philodendron birkin

The browning on those leaves is called melting. Birkins are known for doing it when they get overwatered. I let my Birkin dry out all the way and sit dry for a week before i water again.

It’s great that you’re giving her a ton of sun, they definitely need it since they’re so heavily variegated. Those parts that are white do not have any chlorophyll, so the green parts have to work overtime to make sure the plant is healthy.

    Good luck!!

Looks like it’s time to repot.

Definitely don’t let it sit in water! Water only when soil is dry and keep it in bright light indoors. I would put it into a larger pot as well!

So sorry she’s having trouble! As others suggest, letting it dry out shd do wonders. Good luck from now on! You can do this.

The sun is absolutely burning the leaves. Birkins don’t like direct sunlight.

To avoid possible root rot switch the plant out from the current soil, if over watering is the issue. Repot in dry soil.
