  1. I need dripping irrigation which is not going to happen right now, it's so hot and humid 🥵 and I am not watering during the day. Sweating at night is more than enough for me!
It's nice and green but heat and humidity sucks!
Sorry about complaining, maybe if I could move freely would not be such a problem but for me everything is an effort.
Have a blessed week Brian, Emilie and Noah and gardeners! Stay safe and cool 🙏🏻❤

  2. I’ve had no luck with sprouting beans in May but last week I decided to try again and it sprouted fast and has been looking great so far. I guess it likes Florida’s summer 😂

  3. I love the timing of this video Brian! I have made a list of what I am starting tonight and here is my list for Summer/fall, some of these are my second sowing:
Okra, Cucumbers, Basil, pumpkins, eggplant, tomatoes, dill, watermelon, black eye peas, celery, banana peppers, bell peppers, butternut squash, cantaloupe, zucchini & yellow squash. Happy Growing!! 💚

  4. I love this video! Here in Texas my garden has been battling the heat, bugs, and diseases for a while now and it looking sad and spent. I’m excited to know I can plant some fresh things!

  5. Jambalaya okra is 55 days. Sm plant 2’ very prolific. Also trim the leaves immediately under the okra pods each time you harvest. I plant 1’ apart.

  6. I have tried to mulch my gardens using several things, shavings, straw, cotton hull mulch, and grass clippings. The problem is I live on a very exposed farm in western Kansas with frequent high winds and my mulch blows off constantly leaving my soil exposed. Even in my raised beds, I allow the soil to settle a few inches below the top of the bed and still the wind blows it away. Anyone have any suggestions for a mulch that is natural and stays put?

  7. Are there different varieties of zucchini? All I have ever grown stayed more like a bush while ny squash, pumpkins and melons trailed along the ground.
Garden pests have been my bane of existence this year. I'm managing the squash bug and hornworm by surveillence, but the black flies decimated my eggplants, cabbage worms got my brassicas and mexican beetles my beans. Brassicas I will replant later, and I'm going to try restart eggplant and string beans, and use wood ash to repel critters.

  8. I've been growing my squash vertically on stakes for about 4 years and trimming leaves as they grow. I'll never go back to letting them sprawl because it's easier to control pests and disease when I grow them vertically. You're spot on about the bees…they're more likely to find the flowers if the extraneous leaves are removed.

  9. Super info! Had to chuckle over the okra admonitions! Here in upstate SC, we can all say-oh, yeah, for 2ce a day harvest! Love it in winter soups! I just cut them up in freezer bags, & stick them in the freezer- that's it.

  10. Also, i decided to plant basil with the tomatoes this year like you said, coz last year i used mint and it was too invasive. HOWEVER, the mint absolutely worked! No horn worms after 3 years! Cool! But i tried the basil this year and it did NOT work at all! I planted it right next to each plant. Bummer. Back to the mint i guess

  11. Pet bedding!!! What an ingenious idea! I love that! I keep doin mulch all these years and doesn't really help at all! One guy even said 3-4 inches so i did….nothin. Still dried out. I hope the pet bedding works better for me. Thanks so much!….. M

  12. Zucchini is my all-time favorite, actually yellow zucchini, it is sweeter than its green sister! It is great on the grill cut into "planks" or cut into chunks, cooked in butter and onion, and finished with heavy cream for a very tasty keto side dish!

  13. I laughed so loud over the Fried "Okrah" comment that my hubby heard me through his noise canceling head phones. Great video!

  14. Brian, I love to watch your garden videos. I have a large backyard here in SoCal inland, and though I didn't do much gardening as a young person, I grew gorgeous tomatoes and strawberries. My dad, in his time, grew delicious boysenberries (so much better than blackberries, by the way). Now in my 90s and chugging along with a walker, gardening does not come easily. However, I encourage anyone with a growing spot to use it to the best of their ability. My nephew has a number of raised beds in his small yard. He brought me some beautiful tomatoes a few days ago. He or other family come over and water my little peach and avocado trees. Your videos are the very best I have seen. Besides, when you flash that wonderful smile, it lights up the world.

  15. Brian what kind of irrigation do you have in this video? Looks like a soaker hose, but I’ve seen it in other videos in your raised beds. Looks more rigid. Love your channel! Barbara

  16. You are spot on about sweet corn planting No later in the Midwest ,no later then the first week in July to harvest before the first Frost !! Per commercial growers sweet corn producers !!

  17. Love fried okra, haven't tried growing it yet, now maybe the time, I'm in Texas, I'm going to follow your directions😊 However I picked my cucumbers, plan was to pickle, they have all turned a white/yellow , so should I harvest seeds and start over. Tks so much
