If I put this in soil like this will it grow roots? Or do I need to chop the bottom again and let it callous over? I am just wondering because I've never the scion dried like that at the bottom. Of course I'm VERY new to this. Thanks for any advice you can give me

Consider degrafting and rooting or regrafting it.
Lol had more than a few rot waiting for a bunk rootstock to do something.
It can reroot but legit 80% of cheap china imports will rot before it does
Oh man, that sucks. I have 0 experience grafting. I did buy some pereskiopsis to try but I didn’t want to try with this one.
