Now it’s time for the true harvest of my first ever radishes…these tasted so good! But wow, insanely spicy.

Hot weather makes radishes extra spicy. Radish is a fall and winter crop where I live.

Hot weather. Insufficient water and taking too long to grow will make them spicy.

You can actually grow very mild radishes even in hot weather but that requires that they are properly fertilized and watered so they reach harvest size as quickly as possible which in summer weather with most varieties can be achieved in under 25 days from seed.

I live in Houston, where b/c of the heat it makes them spicy. I prefer them that way. Now trying to eat grocery radishes, they are just too plain.

Can you grow them in the summer? I have half a box that just became vacant
