Lemon tree problems

Hi all. I got this lemon tree free on market place. I noticed 2 trunks so I was investigating whether there's a graft line under the soil. After some digging it looks like I have 2 separate trees? Am I looking at this correctly? So my question is, should I be separating them, and is that okay to do in the middle of winter? Apparently these are Eureka lemon trees but it was for free so this could sprout cats for all I know. Any tips and tricks for starting with lemon trees are appreciated 🙂 thanks!

I’d say you are correct it’s two trees, no graft line I can see so probably seed started.

Should be no issue to separate now so long as you take the necessary transplanting precautions and prune the tree right back to allow for any root ball loss. Probably could do with a better draining potting soil mix.

Aldi was selling small non-grafted citrus a few years ago. Something like $10 for 2 trees.
