Leaf yellow elephant ear

What happen to my elephant ear? Only had it for one week. Put slow releasing fertiliser and watered 2x since I got it. Indoor.

Mine does this when it no longer wants that leaf and is planning to grow a new one. The leaf shrivels up and dies.

Yeah we’ve had one in Brunswick & Geelong. Both v unhappy & didn’t last long. I think I need a family memo re: only LOW maintenance plants as gifts 🤦‍♂️

A new leaf won’t be far behind if you plant is happy. I normally cut them off to save energy being wasted.

I’m kinnnddddd of surprised no one has mentioned symptom of over-watering but that’s why I see yellow leaves on things like devil’s ivy or other leafy indoor plants.

ETA your decorative rock “mulch” isn’t letting the soil dry out either hence my leaning towards over-watered.
