Unfamiliar with posting and having issues with posting both a description and images.

I have recently been dealing with water entering into my basement and found a number of significant cracks on the exterior block which I believe is being caused by roots which are impacting or very close to the foundation in several locations. I would like to remove the large portion of the root directly against the foundation as well as the smaller one routed further away, but do not want to cause any damage to the tree. The tree is rather large and shown in the pictures. The diameter of the trunk is approximately 3 feet. Looking for any general advice on whether I would be safe to proceed with removing portions of the roots shown or if I should leave them alone.

The roots come from the tree in the front yard, along the entire side of the house and then turn the back corner of the house shown and continue down the back of the house.

The down spout fills that area well ground water and root love water.
