She’s tall and lanky and I want to cut it to help her get more dense. I’ve seen where people are cutting the branches, but can I propagate the stem somehow as well? Ideally, I’d cut more than half the height and propagate.

I feel like it is quite hard to propagate cactus but you can do it. Just cut as much as you want callus over the you cut for a day and then put some rooting hormone so that you get roots since going to just plop it in soil.
