This area of my yard is slightly sunken down compared to the rest. A couple days ago I found a soft spot that when pressed opened up this larger hole. It definitely seems like it has some tunnels that go pretty deep. I put two rocks the same size as the one shown down the hole and they both completely disappeared. Is this most likely animal made or could it be some sort of sink hole? I'm concerned with how close it is to the patio that the previous homeowners put in last year. Could this compromise the patio?
What would be the best way to fill in the hole as well as make the yard next to it more level?

Could just be some organic matter is decomposing and causing the sinkhole. Like if an old stump was down there and is rotting away
