OK disclaimer: idfk 🤣 however, my roommate has a BOP that he had cut back (but with roots) after a storm ruined all the leaves/stalks. It’s doing fine now, so it might have a chance! It will likely take a while though.

If the rhizome isn’t mushy it’s not dead. If it’s currently summer for you I’d pot it up and put it outside until winter.
