Never enough space

This garden was just grass with a cruddy conifer at the top when I bought the house, over 4 years of learning, physical labour, tears of failure and joy…

I’ve done 99.9% by myself including constructing the beds, hauling 2 tonnes of compost and soil from the front garden, sewing everything (bar the tomatoes and strawberries) from seed… now I have 40+ varieties of herbs, fruit and veg, borders for bees and butterflies (we call the long bed my “smelly bush” because I made it so you hit every plant with your legs or hands as you walk through and get assaulted with all the smells 😬)

Gardening (even with this absolutely terrible weather) has changed my life since I started learning in the pandemic; it’s an obsession. Even though my garden is tiny weeny and I never seem to have enough space, I wouldn’t change any part of it – despite a lack of right angles or doing anything “properly” it just seems to WORK and like magic you get food and happiness!
