These trees are less than 2 years old in Northeast Ohio. They are not looking great lately, and we have already had a cherry blossom and a white fir die on us. Not sure if these are diseases, bad soil, or a poor job by the landscaper. Please help!

I should have included, these are a white birch and an autumn blaze maple!
Is there an irrigation head right next to the tree?
