Horticulture Terrariums

just thrifted this lamp. do yall think i could make a terrarium out of it?


i know you can get inside easily because there’s a woman on instagram who thrifted the same one and just used it to make holiday scenes.

    cool idea! battery powered led light and hide the end of the cord. that would be so classy! maybe use it like a cloche terrarium; find a glass inner container and the outside just sits over everything.

    I think you’re gonna struggle and there’s potential fire hazard risk.

    I can discard it safely if you send it here.

    But for real the maintenance challenge is going to be difficult. I would want to carefully drill an access port to the top with some form of lid seal. Wrap some coconut husk around the middle, zip tie it so it stays secure. Whatever you plant will climb the the husk. Make sure the base is water tight. Always use less soil than you think you need. You can always add nutrients to your water. I like a stick or branch and a rock feature but due to the fragile nature you may wish to skip rocks and even soil instead using the coconut husk again, hot glued to the base if possible.

    Some springtails or isopods may help maintain the system.
