Little bluestem florets starting!

This is my first time growing little bluestem, and I’m happy to see them start to seed. It’s fascinating how the seeds emerge from the tube-shaped blades of grass. Does anyone have suggestions for when to collect the seeds or any general planting tips? Thanks 🙂

Very pretty. I like the wild look of your garden.

That looks an awful lot like yellow Indiangrass. Still native, though 🙂

This is so awesome! Ive been wanting to make a “wild garden”. Where did you source your seeds?

When did you plant them and what size were they?

I agree with others that this looks more like Indiangrass (sorghastrum nutans). Thank you for planting native grasses! A lot of people in the nolawns/pollinator/native gardening culture seem to not be aware that native grasses are incredibly valuable ecologically.

I’d say wait for these seeds to get a little more dry, almost fluffy. Usually a good sign that you should harvest seeds is kind of intuitive. Do the seeds come off with almost no effort/force?
