Pavers tacky?

Help me decide. Yay or nay to pacers around tree? I’m trying to make my landscape more aesthetically pleasing on a budget. Let me know if you have any ideas as well. Thank you!

Rings like this can harm your tree over time as the feeder roots are generally close to the surface and extend far beyond the base. I would try planting some ground covers or small bushes around the trees to create a border.

    tacky

also, it’s *yea* or nay. not “yay” or nay.

people think that “yea” is another way of spelling “yeah”, but they are wrong

will I get downvoted for this: yea or nay

I like it. Nice accent with the trim on the house. I’d have that in my yard.

I like it now, only potential problem is they don’t age well without maintenance. Goes for many good things though.

I like it, but can see it kind of sticks out rather than melding or blending into the background. Not sure if it’s paintable, but they sell black edging that would be less noticeable. I say leave and go to next project

  6. It’s alright but IMO a cleaner (and cheaper) look is the “victorian edge.” All you need is a shovel and you don’t have to worry about pavers. Your blocks are currently not super level or even so it looks a bit sloppy

It’s not the edging that’s tacky, I t’s the black mulch that is out of place. You can call the black mulch ‘tacky’, but I would call it fake/forced. It just doesn’t belong. Get a mulch that matches your surroundings and the edging will look great.

I wouldn’t use the word tacky.

I don’t mind it, but I was once told this look “resembles a mini golf course and is just missing a windmill.” And I can never not see that now haha.

There are plenty of houses near me that outline everything like this, and it looks “fine.” But I personally think clean edges without the bricks look nicer/ warmer.

Pavers and rocks around the trunk lead to the decline of trees. They compress the roots. Dyed mulch is generally frowned upon. Cut the vines off of the trees in the back.

Since you asked for opinions to me these mulch islands around trees with paver border have strong trailer park vibes. They aren’t necessary and draws the eye to something that’s not all that pleasing. But to each his own if you like the look that’s all that matters.

The pavers look nice. For a ground cover Phlox flowers and spreads at a decent pace if you’d like something other than green ground cover alone and comes back each year.

It’s tacky. Just do undyed natural mulch and a normal cut bed edge.

The color contrast looks odd. Light colored rock and super dark colored mulch. I would suggest more middle ground on both.

I like it for now, just make sure those pavers are secured somehow, tamped into gravel/paver base, maybe an edge guard, or even adhesive.
The second the mulch push’s through and moves those pavers it will look like trash

I don’t think so. If you don’t like them switch to the inter locking wall blocks. I would do two rows of them. You should dig down 6” and place the first row in this level. Maybe just one level will work because you are placing this border around a tree. You don’t want to place soil or mulch above the roots of the tree near the trunk of the tree. Good luck with whatever you do. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, not your neighbors.

I wouldn’t call them *tacky* specifically, but I don’t think it looks right that they’re just laid on top of the ground and mulch piled higher. Set them in so they’re flush (up to maybe 1″ proud) of the ground so they don’t move, you can mow over them, and it looks finished.

I think the edges look fine. Easy maintenance as well. a couple bags of sand or pebbles could level it up without much work though.

I like the look, it keeps the grass and mulch separated and defines the circle 👍

Naa they’re nice. They’re just popping out right now because they haven’t developed a patina.

I usually think they are tacky, but I actually love yours. The pavers themselves are not matchy-matchy, and that makes all the difference. Gorgeous and clean.
