[Update] “Very Mature” critically endangered tree

Hey guys, potential pumpkin ash guy here again with an update. I went back out today to take down some of the vines as recommended. From a different angle I could see the tops of the tree – it’s toast. There are 3 living trunk sprouts left, and one has grown to be fairly sizable. Still looking for a positive ID and wondering if I can save this thing via the trunk sprouts somehow. Photos as follows:

1) The dead tree (red). You can see why i didnt realize it was dead. The canopy below is super thick and the trunk sprouts have a lot of foliage.
2) The three living trunk sprouts.
3) Flower remnants?
4) Foliage
5) Terminal Bud close-up (?)
6) Back of leaves
7) Front of leaves

Cheers guys sorry for getting your hopes up about this thing being in good shape.

I’d take some cuttings and grow them in containers. I have a small American beech on my property I’m looking to do the same to. That way I can enjoy it and it can benefit wildlife while I can prune it to shape it and treat it for BLD easily.
