Composting

Berkeley hot compost after a month. Ready yet?

So I've been diligently turning this pile (pics are only a quarter of it) every 2nd day as per instructions, and flipping middle with side material. It's composted very well from what it originally was, save for the annoying sticks and bark.

It is still running quite hot though, today's reading at 47 Celsius. But I'm starting to see little critters moving in which I imagine is a sign of it getting closer to being ready.

Should I leave it a bit longer or is it good to use? It's mid winter here in Sydney Australia and I was just going to spread it around some old fruit trees growing in exhausted soil, so I'm not fussed about sifting and getting the finer stuff.

For your application, I’d say go for it. The microbes will work the goodness in. The sticks will stay on top.
