Philodendron

I snapped my Silver Sword :( please help!

So my silver sword had outgrown it's moss pole and kept tipping over. I decided to repot and get a bigger pole but in doing so the stem snapped as I've had it since it basically had its first leaf😭

I put it in a jug of water make sure a bunch of the nodes are submerged. My question is do you think it will survive ok without any roots at the moment? Or am I better to chop and prop?

Greatly appreciate any advise in this sad time 😅

How many leaves are there on the piece you’re trying to prop??

This *exact* thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. I put it in a vase just like you did with water and im just now starting to see teeny tiny roots. I’m thinking I should’ve tried a different method like perlite or moss for it to start rooting, not sure.

Maybe try putting a couple pothos cuttings in the water so rooting hormone will be more widely available?

Same thing happened to mine about a month ago! I put in water to prop. About 2 weeks later it started growing roots and I put it into a stratum and perlite mix. Roots have popped off so much that I’ll probably transfer to soil in the next week or so

  3. Take a 5 node top cut. Take 3 of the leaves off and root from there the rest you can single node prop. A cutting this large loses too much water to survive how long it will take to root.

Just make sure that every node has help with encouraging root growth. So i would make sure theyre covered with moist moss. It wil grow many roots and assure its survival.
