Wild Raspberries?


Found on a trail in MD, haven’t tried one could someone confirm?

    Looks like raspberries.

    There is only one inedible “look alike,” and they don’t look like that.

    Couldn’t tell for sure from the last pic, but you can tell by the fruit when you pick it.

    If the core is hollow, it’s raspberry. Blackberries have a more solid innards after you pick (haha I’m having trouble describing it).

    Also, it’s easy to tell if they’re ripe. Just give them a gentle tug, and they should fall off into your hands with little to no resistance.

  2. They look more like wineberries to me – a related invasive species that crops up in this subreddit a lot at this time of year. Wineberries, like all other drupelet based fruits in NA (raspberry, blackberry, salmonberry), are edible – the only semi-lookalike exception being goldenseal.
