Thank you for posting to r/plantclinic!

It looks like you may be asking about a cactus or succulent. In addition to any advice you receive here, please consider visiting r/cactus r/succulents for more specialized care advice.

A common problem with cacti and succulents is etiolation. This is when a succulent stretches or becomes leggy. Reply with “!etiolation” for advice.

Can I just cut the stem above where it’s rotted and prop that, or should I take all the leaves off individually and try to prop those?

Killed it because I left it in the soil it was potted in and didn’t change it for a better draining one, and then I overwatered because I was trying to treat all my plants with the mosquito bits for fungus gnats. 😅

you will at least have to remove some of the lower leaves if you want to try to root the main stem. so, you can root the leaves you remove as well as the main plant, but the plant has a better chance of rooting if you remove the blooms.

Cut off all the rotted stem and let it callous for a day. Plant it in succulent soil and add perlite for better drainage. Let it sit in the dry soil for 2 weeks and water. No direct sun at this time or the plant will lose leaves.
