Fiddle Leaf Fig

My pot is too big, innit?

Hey yall! I repotted 4 year old Figgy Stardust a couple of months ago and he's been so happy this summer with plenty of outside time in our hellishly hot, humid Louisiana weather…lots of new growth and cheerful leaves!
I really like my outer, denim blue pot…it's 18" diameter and deep enough to contain my inner pot. Inner pot is 14" diameter and about 1' deep with lots of good drainage. Before repotting, Figgy came home in a way bigger/deeper square pot with less drainage.
I don't plan on repotting, but I just have the feeling that Figgy's pants are too big even though he seems to enjoy it? If he were in a smaller pot, would he grow any differently?
Bonus baby tax included.

Also: should I be doing something for the baby? If I fertilized at some point, would it be harmed? Figgy’s never had plant food or fertilizer, and I’m kind of interested in trying…but maybe not, haha!

the biggest risk with pots too big is root rot or mould since the roots won’t soak up all the water if they can’t reach it. avoid that, and i think you should be okay 👍
