Full moon Monstera (is it doomed?)

Recently picked this full moon monstera up. Not sure if it will last but sure looks nice.

    Yes it is*

*it is both pretty and doomed

  2. Is there any chance at all it survives? It looks like it might have another growth point but it’s all white like the leaves. I am hoping the next leaf could be green(ish?)

Yes it’s doomed, I’m really sorry. 😔 The white leaves look so lovely, but can’t photosynthesise at all, so the plant will eventually die off completely unless more green appears on the next leaves/other growth points, which is pretty unlikely if they’re on a completely white bit.

I recommend not touching the white on the leaves. Totally my own hypothesis but in my experience, the oils from our skin expedite the browning process.

Usually I say wait til 3 but at 2 this is clearly on a path of self destruction.

  5. anyone selling a “full moon” is a scammer.

  6. sadly doomed, hoping it pushes out a greener leaf for you but with thise two leaves already out… 😬

Just bought a Monstera Tetrasperma that has a lot of white. It’s beautiful but thinking I may of messed up buying it. Hoping it throws more green in the leaves

I’m usually camp “Give it a Chance!” … But with those stems, I’m sorry, friend 😕 it’s totally doomed.

I wonder if you could splice this full moon onto a mature monstera? Like have a half green/half white plant. If I was you I’d atleast try as an experiment. (My first though; I’m now going to go down the rabbit hole and look into this)

Would another growth point happen if op cut the stem off completely?

If the stem has some green, you can cut it waaaay back and hope you get some new growth near the green parts. No guarantee it would survive, but it likely won’t survive if you don’t anyway sadly.

If no green at all, yeah, it probably won’t survive unfortunately.

    Is it doomed? Probably.

But I say take care of it as well as you can for as long as you can and see what happens! Plants have a way or sorting themselves out. They *want* to live. Good luck!
