Plant Propagation

Root growth on monstera deliciosa cuttings at 43 days!

I chopped our large monstera deliciosa at the beginning of June and got 8 cuttings. (The second image is the mother plant before cutting). Shortly after cutting it, we realized both the mother plant and all the cuttings were infected with thrips.

My partner and I proceeded to treat the thrips by aggressively spraying the plants with the hose, using dish soap and vinegar, insecticidal soap, and neem oil. The thrips seem to be gone now (fingers crossed), so we are down to spraying with neem oil + water every few days just in case.

We moved the props from plain ol' water to leca + water at around 30 days. These are the healthiest looking bunch and I'm so excited at their growth! I obsessively check on them and see new growth every day!

I also just love the way leca looks in a clear container with the roots growing through all the crevaces. So cool 🙂
