Rare Houseplants

How much should I list my monstera albo for?

I unfortunately have to leave the country for 6 month starting this October, so I’m thinking ahead of time trying to sell my plants early. How much should I list them for? In Los Angeles, if matters.

I also had to leave for a period of time perilously, a good friend who’s not experienced with plants helped take care of my plants that I’m very very thankful for. That’s the cause for the middle leaves brownings, just putting it out there so people know plants themselves are healthy and won’t develop new brownings if stick to current water schedule.

You could probably get 1K out of it if you market it right! Like to a fancy salon in LA

Nothing, they’re all worth nothing. I’d be willing to take on the burden of them, though, I’m sure it wouldn’t be that bad (big sarcasm if it wasn’t obvious)

For a real answer: Holy holy goodness, these are GORGEOUS plants. Obviously prices would depend on size, but albos being the way they are, I’d say you could get at least a couple hundred off all these together. I suck at pricing, though, so I can’t recommend anything specific- just don’t undersell them, know their value.

That said, though, if it’s just six months, Have you considered seeing if there’s anyone in your area who might be willing to house them while you’re gone? You would probably want to pay them, or offer them a cutting/a small plant in exchange, but if it were me, I’d be thrilled to help someone keep their collection, and doubly thrilled to have a bunch of gorgeous albos as esteemed guests. LA is pretty big, so I’d be amazed if there aren’t any other rare houseplant people in the area. I’m a couple states away unfortunately, otherwise I’d gladly offer to take care of them!

I hate even saying this but so many people will think “money is tight. I’ll spend $40 on a baby and in time it’ll be this big.” The economy is so tough. I wish I could say it would even go for $250 now but I know it would sit.

If you were in Canada I’d help babysit it at my place til you returned no strings attached. I hope you find someone to love it! She’s gorgeous.

Join your local rare plants group on facebook! You’d probably get so many offers being in LA. Cali has such a large rare plants community from what I know. I’d say nothing less than $400 for the large one tho. Medium one maybe $200-250. The other two smaller ones $100-125. I’d be pricing it at least $25/leaf basically but maturity of the leaf/nodes also matters too I feel. Anyways, that’s my two cents haha.
