Have I killed my plant?

My father passed away 2 months ago and this plant was part of a larger plant basket I bought for his funeral. I broke it apart and planted each plant separately about a month ago. Unfortunately, my grief was overwhelming and I wasn’t caring for this plant the way it needed.

I gave it a good soaking the other day and cut off all the dead leaves. But before that, it wasn’t getting watered regularly.

It’s in a south facing window with my other plants.

Is it too late for this guy? Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated 💕

Not gonna lie, it doesn’t look great. That said, for how fussy they are, I’ve found calatheas to be extremely resilient. If you’re attached to the plant for emotional reasons, you might try cutting off the dead stems all the way back to the soil, put it in a brighter spot, and see if it comes back. I’m sorry for the loss of your dad 💜

Doesn’t look great, but it won’t hurt to just leave it. Keep it somewhere sunlit, give it some water when the soil is dry, and see what happens after a month or two.

I just brought mine back. This grp talked abt overwatering. That was the problem. Getting new healthy leaves.
