Begonias

what’s wrong with my rex begonia?? i don’t know what i’m doing wrong. i have it infront of a grow light, water it when the top inch of soil is dry, and use a standard potting mix that works for all my other plants. the leaves just keep turning black

    A few questions:

    * How do the black bits feel and what is the process? E.g. I can see an old black leaf on the soil, correct? And are the others going black from the inside out? It’s hard to see from the photo – the main leaves look pretty good!

    * What is your ambient humidity like? Do you have any other “high humidity” plants like calathea/ferns? How are they doing?

I killed my first rex but seem to have the hang of them now – they are definitely better with under rather than overwatering, and I tend to water when the pot feels super light (and ideally but not always before the leaves start drooping!)

For soil mix, I use something that’s well draining but also retains a bit of moisture – not too chunky e.g. it’s a finer mix with less bark Vs what I have Hoyas and aroids in

They don’t like too much light, but will usually tell you pretty quick if that’s the issue by burning or bleaching out
