Plant Propagation

Transitioning props from water to soil.

This is my first time doing really anything with plants, I have a couple snake plant and pothos propagations growing in water and one of them finally outgrew its container and had roots coming off its roots. I decided it was time to switch it to soil and potted it in a super airy succulent mix. I am currently bottom watering it to moisten all the soil, but I was wondering if I should just keep its bottom container filled with water for a little while it gets used to soil. I keep reading that it’s important to keep the soil very moist while it grows soil roots so I thought this would be an easy way to do it for the first couple days and then slowly give it less and less water. However, I’m not sure if this will cause root rot and wanted to see if anyone else has done this or thinks it’s a bad idea.

Sorry if that doesn’t make much sense I still don’t know a lot of the terminology or what I’m doing in general 😅

I just plant them into soil once the roots get about 2 inches long. At least with my pothos. Haven’t had any die or get sick. They don’t do anything for about 2 weeks, then boom! Leaves, stem thickening, all the good stuff. I just have regular miracle gro potting soil too. It has been pretty cool to see them go from wimpy to nice and stronk.
