  1. Importing is such a gamble. The margin better be really great to do it. Even if everything goes well, you can count on at least a month to rehab, root, and get new growth. And we all know how much prices can change in a month.

  2. Itโ€™ll be fun when the variegated raven zz is more available/affordable! Very cool color expression, especially with the difference from fresh to hardened off. I recently got a green variegated zz prop with two small rhizomes for $30 including shipping. Canโ€™t wait for it to grow in a year or two ๐Ÿคฃ

  3. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I HATE what they are doing. Not a particular fan of business to business to business (EDIT: since people like to assume i want free, this is what i mean by greed, i had to edit this because i dont think people like to pay attention to the video) and by the time it goes to time for the public to buy these they are so priced out that it's not even worth it (edit: meaning the urge to get rich off a plant means its the motivation to buy them all out before the public even had a chance. Meaning supply and demand cost is whatever they want it to be, so if a business buys it for 27,000 it can easily make it to 50,000, i dont care if its a risky gamble, its the act of greed that irritates me. business to business greed flipping, has nothing to do with nonbusiness people who never had a chance to get it at the low of 27,000, now they have to pay even more than that.), I'm all for unicorns, really, but this is greed, and it is very gross. Not remotely a fan. it is getting ridiculous. (edit: still not once did i say i want a free plant)(its as mentioned in the video: a business to business circle jerk without the general public having a chance)

  4. during big events like plant expo the prices are higher even double price for the displays than buying them in gardens or market like chatuchak.

  5. Another awesome video as usual. My comments coming from the EU zone:
Philo Orange Princess – still pretty rare in the EU, definitely more expensive than what you showed.
Pink ZZ – seems a bit expensive for import compared to what I've seen in the EU.
Monstera adansonii definitely not worth it in the EU, small plants with 5-10 leaves are already at 35โ‚ฌ.
Monstera full mint – definitely not worth it.
Philo gloriousum variegated – not worth it.
Legacy Thai – nah not worth it either
Alocasias bambino aurea – another one not worth for shipping, they are already under 100โ‚ฌ.
Variegated frydeks are going down to 30โ‚ฌ so I don't think it's worth all the troubles
Billies for that size – I would go for them that size, also for the reason you brought up, instability.
Raphiodophora variegated 2 leaf cuttings are about 20-30โ‚ฌ so not worth.
Alocasia cuprea variegated? That's insane, they are under 1000โ‚ฌ in the EU.
Philo white princess – lol way over what I'd pay there is so much similar to it.
That lime green Thai, insane, not even going to comment xD
Monstera viet looks insane – I'll wait xD
Alocasia chantrieri – not worth it personally
Not really into the TC stuff either, specially for the work you'd need to do and risk to sell them for a profit. By the time they are climatized prices are down.
BMF – I agree, good price.
    Crazy stuff man, good vid!

  6. I agree with you. I follow some Chinese live sells. Definitely seeing huge price drop too.

  7. Can I just say, as a buyer, I would love to have the Monstera Devil, but I will wait till more sane prices come to pass. I just bought my Thai only 2-3 months ago and I got it for $25. I am also willing to get a small one and grow them out myself. I paid a lot for my Albo but those days are over for me. I can no longer afford to pay, nor do I want to pay those high prices anymore. I am patient. I can wait til the price comes down. Just my 2 cents, for anyone interested in one buyers point of view.

  8. Just recently had the gloriosum Variegata arrive here nz, went on sale for $1000-$1200 a small rooted cutting $600-$730 usd.

  9. Hi there, I recently also did a video on the Bangkok international plant exhibition. I did a price analysis and found that the prices have gone up.
    BUT!
The planters market which is happening in Singapore right now is showing prices that are MUCH cheaper. This is really surprising! The same sellers in Thailand came to Singapore and the prices were significantly cheaper.
E.g. a variegated gloriosum medium size selling for SGD$800 is SGD$490 now.

  11. Hey Pretty, I love your channel! Love the information that you share with us. But back to this video…there has always been a difference between the Asian, European and American 'rare' plant market, but not as huge as it is now. Not only trend wise but also price wise. Since China joined the plant market they changed the game (in Asia), but not here in Europe (The Netherlands where I live). After corona the market has been shrinking, resulting in (much) cheaper plants for the customers. Besides that, the demand for variegated plants (especially Philodendrons) is kinda low, the same goes for Monstera's. If there has been one on the rise, it is the genus Anthuriums. I have seen them being sold anywhere between 50-1000 (average rare anthurium being 200, but you can find seedlings for cheaper). The days of buying plants above 1000 are over. It's just not worth it, it makes my hobby as a collector less fun plus I know that all those prices will come down over the years like we have seen over and over again. It is however, very interesting to see what is going on in Asia :).

  12. people need to stop buying there variegated plants for ridicilous high prizes. They are MADE, so they van flood the market with them if they want. But they choose not to for high prizes. Its basically a scam. And these varigations are usually not even stable.
so buying a plant like that, is most likely throwing away your money.

  13. The US implemented a nonsensical ban on banana plant imports, so now with our Thai source cut off, variegated bananas are skyrocketing in price. This ban makes no sense because the disease they are worried about doesn't effect any US agricultural crops. The US doesn't grow bananas commercially. The US is not the "land of freedom" people claim it is. Not any more.
