Dinteranthus Wilmotianus Root Mold

Hi guys, I went to lightly water my dinteranthus today and noticed some mold growing around the base / roots. Wondering what may have caused this and if it’s reversible. Any info helps. Thanks

The cause of the mold is a humid environment — your soil isn’t drying out fast enough.

I think that particular kind of mold likes cooler temperatures (I got it occasionally when I had my plants indoors this spring, but it went away once I moved pots out into my new greenhouse).

I’m also 90% sure it’s harmless — it’s light and fluffy and doesn’t cause root rot. None of my plants that had some in their pot died.

If you fix whatever is causing the extra moisture it’ll probably resolve on its own.
