Have I removed enough of this basal pup to stop it coming back or should I cut deeper?

Slightly worrying as it’s so low and near the soil but I’ll cut more if it’s just gunna grow out anyway

That’s fine. It’s more about interrupting growth. Damage the pup enough and the plant will send it’s growth hormones to another spot. If you want to be certain you could cut deeper but not necessary just to redirect growth upwards
