Fruit tree varieties chat- mangoes and cherries in Perth backyard

Hi all, I've finally finished making the inside of my new place livable, and I want to start on the garden this Spring. The green area is about 4.5 x 15m, and its what I'm going to fence off from the dogs for fruit and veg. It will be my first permanent garden.

I was hoping to grow fruit that I eat a lot of and is also expensive, as that seems logical. So I've loosely decided on a King Thai mango (smaller than other mangoes) and a Lapins cherry (self pollinating), as well as a west indian lime as I use a lot of citrus.

So my questions are as follows, but I'd love advice and a chat about fruit trees generally:

Apparently Perth suburbs (not hills) don't get cold enough for cherries? Has anyone got advice on this?
Has anyone grown a King thai mango? Do they really stop at 4m? I don't really have the space for a big mango tree. Is the fruit good?
Any other suggestions for fruit trees that don't need two plants, and that the fruit is expensive at the shops? Pears and apples are cheap and usually need cross pollination, so I've ruled them out mostly even though they're fruit I eat a lot.
