  3. Thanks for a well researched article. I've only one point I'd disagree with, and that's the toxicity of elderberries. In Britain plenty of folk I know have, and do eat elderberries raw. Rather like apple pips, which are supposed to be poisonous. I've always eaten the whole apple. I think the seeds pass through the gut whole. I've always worked on the maxim if you're not sure, don't eat.
