Neighbor’s arborist just dropped a tree on my roof

What do I need to do/know? He’s claiming a “porter rope” failed. Currently on my roof setting up new ropes.

If he was anywhere near your house he should have supplied you with his insurance paperwork and had you sign. I wouldn’t let him anywhere near your house without seeing that paperwork, especially not on your roof.

More context: company is very reputable/biggest in our area. I’m taking a bunch of pictures of the damage and their process after the accident. They haven’t asked me to sign anything yet.

Be patient, let them make the calls they need to make to fix it. Stuff happens, gear fails, houses get broke. He may be telling to the truth he may not, you don’t know. You have the pictures, give them a couple days then go to war if they aren’t scheduling the repair. I expect they’ll take care of you.

  4. Probably meant porta wrap. Appears they were trying to hang a full tree. Not a great idea that close to other houses. Port a wraps don’t fail either. It’s a chunk of metal. Likely the sling on the port a wrap was old and failed. This post screams in a hurry. Could have easily been climbed and rigged properly.

If he works for a reputable company, they will take care of it.
