Alocasia

Please Help! 😅

Long post, I need lots of help! 🙃Thanks in advance!

  1. Please identify these alocasia, I grew them from corms and didn’t label them! (Pics 1-3)

  2. Any ideas as to what is going on with the purple colored one? She’s behind glass with great humidity and I bottom water once a week. She’s giving me new leaves but she’s also producing the third “flower” in like a month. Idk why the leaves are dropping so much. My light source is about 6” above. (Pics 4&5)

  3. I just purchased the last Alocasia today from Lowe’s, it looked to be severely infested with something so I had the employee chop off all leaves and I plan on just using the corms. What type of Alocasia might it be? Is it wise to use the corms? Are those spider mites? (Pics 6&7)

    1. idk. It’s so little that it hasn’t transformed into a shape that I recognize yet. Maybe it’s a Alocasia Mandalay.
    2. Green Alocasia Dragon Shield
    3. Alocasia Cupera Red Secret
    4. Alocasia Azlanii
    5. Alocasia Jaclyn

For the Cupera. It maybe too much water. If the soil isn’t dry enough and you bottom water you could just be killing the roots leading to root rot.

For the Jaclyn, cut off the yellow and severe droopy leaves. Give it a good wash, dry and then spray whatever pesticide you have to kill indoor insects. The poor lighting of the big box shops suck so it could be from that and the lack of humidity.
