Mom Maimed my Fiddle Leaf

Help plz. Mom took in my plants for a couple of months after we were displaced because of a tornado. She decided my fiddle leaf needed some extra sun and set it out for like a week in full sun. It’s so so sad. I’m content to start over if need be. Can I prune back to the trunk? Should I wait until the end of winter/spring? Other suggestions? The before picture is from a few months ago.
