Received a native thyme plant, that I’m not entirely sure what to do with. How do I grow this? How big is it going to get?

A friend of mine just got citizenship and gave me the plant since she doesn’t have a garden. I don’t either, I have a couple of planter boxes with herbs, and I’m not sure exactly what “native thyme” is and what I should be planting it in. And how do I look after it? I don’t want to get both of us deported, so the plant must survive.

Beautiful smelling – worth growing just for the scent. Nice little flowers. Mine haven’t been great in clay soil, but put yours in a well-drained pot in the sun, water with your herbs, and it should be great. Prune the tips when the branches get straggly.
