Clover in a container pot

I have alot of 4 leaf clovers in my yard. Today i found a 6 leaf. I was wanting to start pulling these extra leaf clovers with roots intact and putting them in their own container so that they can grow bigger wothoit being mowed over.

I do know that growing clover in a yard is very forgiving , thus why i use that to seed yard. Without putting too much work into this project, is there a more optimal type soil (gardening soil, top soil, potting soil) that would be better? Would a pot be better than say a flat?

I ask because any googling just seemed to talk about general clover growing in a field or yard, or they were talking more about shamrocks and not actual clover.

Any help would be appreciates, includong perhaps a better sub tobaak this.

  1. Any potting mix will work. Once established, it will go through a surprisingly high amount of water, but it’s easy enough to grow in pots.

From experience, though, it will take over any pots it is planted in and potentially crowd out other plants, so keep that in mind if you want to try planting it with other established plants.
