Horticulture Terrariums

First terrarium!

First time building one and I’m obsessed. Already thinking about bigger set ups lol I’ve been in the aquarium hobby for several years and finally tried my hand at terrariums. Had an old 3 gal tank sitting around and a fern that desperately needed more humidity.

Mostly sealed (very small air hole in the top). High humidity. Temp usually 74-78.
Previously emersed anubias and buce.
Fern (maidenhair?) and goldfish plant cuttings from my collection.
Neoregelia hybrid (not familiar with this one but it looks cool. Aware that it might get huge but that’s a job for future me.)

Substrate is a mix of sphagnum moss, coconut fiber, aged fir bark, and organic succulent potting soil. Bottom layer is gravel and ceramic rings with mesh screen on top. Dried cattapa leaf scatter.

Currently stocked with springtails. Hoping to add isopods in the near future 🙂

Open to suggestions, concerns, education. I’ve been watching a lot of Another World Terreria videos and surfing the subreddits religiously lol but im sure there’s lots of room to improve.

    Hey sweetseachel

Did you know succulents have adapted to grow and thrive in areas with limited water sources, dry periods, and bright direct light? Most terrarium spaces are the exact opposite of that which can cause terrariums to fail! If it’s your first terrarium don’t fret, we have a list of resources to help you build a successful and happy terrarium!
