Leaves are yellowing

I'm getting all kinds of contradictory stuff of Google. Too much water? Too little? Needs nitrogen? Too much sun? Any insights from the pros on this subreddit?

That’s the challenge with plant problems. Any symptom can usually be attributed to several causes and some detective work is needed to figure out what’s going on. Overwatering and underwatering look the same. Yellowing of leaves can be from 1) senescence. Leaves don’t live forever. They wear out. As they do, they’ll fade and yellow before withering. This plant doesn’t appear to be old enough for leaf senescence to be taking place, but less than ideal growing conditions can speed it up. 2) nutrient deficiency or ph imbalance. If the soil is deficient in nitrogen or magnesium, yellowing can occur. It’ll normally show up on all or most of the leaves but may be more pronounced at first on older ones. Ph imbalances make nutrients in the soil unavailable for use so look just like nutrient deficiency. The difference is with oh imbalance the problem isn’t solved by adding fertilizer or other nutrients to the soil. 3) excessive light. Usually the pattern of yellowing would be different than what we see here. 4) Chronic overwatering or underwatering. Both cause root damage which can show up at first as older leaves yellowing and dying back in an attempt to focus resources to new growth. Overwatering kills roots through drowning. Underwatering damages roots through dehydration and if it happens for too long or too often, the plant weakens to the point it can’t recover.

Based on the very limited info here, my guess is the roots are slowly drowning to death in that self watering pot. But that is just a guess based on very limited info.

How do you care for them? More info needed.

Letting the soil be submerged can cause issues. Not sure if that’s what you are doing .
