White “hairs” on plants

I noticed these little white hairs on the underside of leaves in our backyard. They look attached to the leaf. What is this? – Brisbane, Australia

  1. Wooly Aphids. The white hairs are long strands of sugar and waste material that the insects exude after eating sap.

Usually harmless to plant health, except if they reach plague proportions.
