FYI Grass clippings on the road are dangerous!

I’m sure this is a shitty practice to begin with. Ive seen plenty of landscapers picking up their clippings, however today I was riding home and was behind another biker when we pass a home getting yard work done. One of the guys was literally blowing the clippings into the road and in the riding class I took some 12 years ago they taught us this can be bad so I started to slow down to 15 or so in a 30. The other guy didn’t seem to know this or just said fuck it and kept going. Back tire slid out and luckily he saved it from a drop but it made me think that some landscapers may not know this can be dangerous so wanted to share with you guys.

Just an FYI to hopefully prevent an accident.

This is something I never would have thought of.

Alternative take on this topic: If grass clippings in the road are a potentially lethal hazard to the vehicle you’re driving, maybe said vehicle just isn’t road safe and shouldn’t be driven on public roads.

Some landscapers also love to use their string weed cutters to fling gravel and stones at expensive cars like M-B and BMW in areas like McLean in VA and Potomac in MD.

  4. Yeah clibbins definitely can make riders have ta lay ‘er down.

Is this also the case for leaves? My township lets us blow our leaves into the street in the fall. I have heard of the grass clippings being a danger before and I never blow mine into the road but i see it happening all the time.

Not to mention it being a dick hack job move. Blow that shit into the lawn, where it disappears.

Nothing says “I’m never hiring your company” like driving through a cloud of lawn debris you’re blowing into traffic.

If you’re how homeblower with your handheld, and I’m not in a company truck, I speed up and pass close so I blow that shit back into his lawn, because none of them have a clue how wins works. Keep him busy for another hour.

OP is talking about riding a motorcycle, not a bicycle, in case anyone was unsure like I was at first.

After I mow and trim/edge, I blow whatever fell into the street back up onto the property and blend it. I always thought it bad practice to either leave it or blow it out into the roadway. Didn’t know it could actually become a hazard. Thanks for the intel.
