Fiddle Leaf Fig

Should I cut?

2 questions:

1- do you think I should cut this at the blue line or will chopping off the main bunch of leaves hurt it? I don’t like the current stick look of it but I don’t want to kill it if it won’t be sustainable without that

2- why are all my leaves so small? You can see between the old leaves and new, the new are probably 1/3 of the size.

Background:

-it was super lush and beautiful when I bought it but the move to my apt lmost killed it and it lost almost all its leaves.

-It has since started growing again but the leaves are all small no matter what I do.

-It gets 12 hours a day of artificial. (the only place in my apt that would get enough natural light is in front of a heater/ac unit that would almost certainly kill it. They nyc apt plant struggle)

-I water it about 1x/week, 3 cups, usually with liquid fertilizer. I occasionally forget the fertilizer.

-it was repotted about a 6 month ago. The roots were fine

-according to my tracker (which may or may not be accurate) – the soil fertility and moisture levels are both consistently fine

Not an expert, but I recently brought back a FLF that looked like this. I wouldn’t cut yet, it’s just going to regrow similar growth to what you have. Try notching first, when it has some lower foliage, then cut. I think you should also go longer between fertilizing. If you fertilize to much, whatever nutes its not using will build up in the soil and it could become toxic to the plant. I would fert once every 2-3 months. The good news is your leaves aren’t showing signs of overwatering though.
