Grafting Plants

I’ll have to degraft it, don’t I?

Will it be enough if I cut the Pereskiopsis short and bury it in well draining, granular soil to let it dry? Or do I need to remove the pups and the lowest third of the scion to prevent rot?

You might be able to cut that Pere and impale it into a new rootstock like Grandiflorus

  2. Should be enough just cutting as close to the loph as you can without damaging the loph and then replant it. But if you’re wanting to re graft it to something you’ll need to get rid of all the Pere

Core out the pere material and let sit till it sends out its own roots

wait for it to flower then degraft it so you know it’s mature enough. mine blooms readily after i let it flower when it was still grafted

plump it first then slowly twist the stalk until it separates, scrape the remaining pere tissue and let it dry the wound, it would root eventually over damp media
