This is a bit on the extreme side for this subreddit but I wanted to share anyway. The previous owner brush(or bush) hogged ~10 acres. He used to mow ~20 but mowed less and less as he got older. I have Google maps history to show it. The woods now behind the house have young trees (~10 to 15 years old). All that you see in these pics I won’t mow or bush hog at all. I will, however, have to cut any saplings that grow around my Starlink dish. Other than that, I plan on letting all of this grow.

We re doing something similar on land my family owns. Is this the best way to get native plants, or should we be doing controlled burns or something else that’s more complicated than just letting it go?
