    It’s impractical because:

    – As you can see in one of the images the roof is quite complex, and we couldn’t find a good place to fit automatic openers (or manual for that matter). So the ventilation now is a small slit at the top, and having to open doors which we have a door pair on one long and one short side. We’re looking into installing perhaps 2 mechanical fans inside the wall, and multiple grates. Not sure if that’s enough, or if the heat will get trapped somehow anyway.

    – The floor is beautiful, but when it gets wet it tends to give off some white stuff. I believe it’s salt, and doing a yearly rinse + coat of linseed oil seems to freshen them up.

    – Since it’s a custom build, we didn’t fully anticipate all of the places where water would build up, so we have some areas of wood where water has gathered. Need to extend some drop guards etc

    It looks lovely.

The white powder on the brick floor is likely efflorescence. It’s caused by the crystalline salts left behind after the brick gets wet.
