What power tool can I use to cut grass in between patio tiles?

Hi! I wanted to ask what power tool can I buy (battery, electric or gas) to easily cut grass that is growing in between my patio tiles. And after it’s cut what can I do to prevent it from growing back. Thank you for the advice!

Weed eater.. or you can spray RM43 total vegetation control. But beware it will kill everything it comes in contact with so spray on non windy day.

Whipper snipper / weed whacker to clean up first then torch them

Propane torch. No it won’t damage the stones. Have fun

Get it wet and pull it out by hand. If it’s really grass it’ll come out easily like a sheet of grass. Then clean the cracks with a flathead screwdriver and a leaf blower. Fill the cracks with locking sand.

  5. As many others have mentioned—a weed torch is a great solution and doesn’t require any toxic chemicals.

This is almost all crabgrass— it’s an annual so preventing seed is best measure— a few torching as others have mentioned will
    largely accomplish this.

You can prevent it from germinating with preemergent like Preen in spring when this widget set to crabPRE matches your location: http://gddtracker.msu.edu

  7. Weed torch or pressure washer with the narrowest nozzle.

I’d blast the hell out of them with my pressure washer if it were me.

At the same time I can’t think of a better excuse to buy a weed torch than this…

I’ve heard boiling water is cheap and easy

Thank you for all the suggestions. It seems many say to use a weed torch but the patio is near the house so it makes me a little nervous to use fire. Would a trimmer work?

Roundup and a weed eater about a week later.

  12. average_zen

Full strength cleaning vinegar, then a weed torch a week later.

Sawzall. But a torch would be easier…..

Torch, glyphosate, or a spade/square shovel.

That wire brush attachment for a string trimmer will make short work of that.

    Weed whacked tilted sideways
    Blowtorch
    Flame thrower on rainy days

use a weed wacker /trimmer , with the string.

then pour paver sand and use a sweep to evenly feel in the spots if any… then apply low or high gloss, depending on your liking PAVER & Concrete Sealant, use a paint roller to apply on a hot day , make sure its not wet or humid before applying and it wont rain for at least 8 hours.. you wont have to worry about weeds as much after this, one or two here and there.

round up this week, blow torch next week.

Mix up vinegar and Epsom salt in a one gallon sprayer then spray the weeds they will wilt and die. Get a propane torch you can hook to a 20 lb cylinder and burn them after they turn brown and are dried out.

  20. Nocryplz

String trimmer. Gas would whip them right out of there

  21. BBQorBust

Weed whacker and fire from a torch. Then spray with whatever weedkiller you see fit to use.

I have had good luck spraying with a glyphosate weed killer, wait 2 weeks, torch what’s left. Wait a month and repeat if necessary.

  23. GazuGaming

A bag of baking soda or salt… pour it on and use a scrubber/broom to work it into the crevices between stones.

  24. Weed eater will get it done, but will burn through string. It also only gets the surface layer. Someone tell us more about this polymeric sand!
