Carnivorous Plants

My first terrarium build is complete after over a month of work

I had so many issues with the piping leaking into the soil. But now it's finally done and now all I need are more babies.

It’s cool! How do you have drainage setup for those nepenthes? Only mention this because it seems you’re going for a bog type terrarium and nepenthes don’t like to be sitting in peat/ perlite mix.

Nepenthes might get root rot in this setup. The media looks too dense/wet. They prefer long fibre sphagnum and perlite, as it allows for better air circulation. Other carnivorous like sundews would love this!! 🙂

artistic note, if you don’t have an animal in it try building up some of the dirt in the back half. when a terrarium is flat it feels much smaller. especially with a nep in the front you’ll lose any visual or whatever lies behind that guy. just a slight slope or a plateau held back by cork bark/rock. otherwise looks amazing! really good job on the fountain and keeping the water reservoir separate

    Cool idea!

I’ve used Leca clay balls in my indoor bog setups containing nepenthes. You can pile some up use it like volcano rocks. I use it to bottom my nepenthes conainting Bogs, covered in dried sphagnum, then live spagnum. The nepenthes are in orchid pots placed in the bog planter atop the leca balls. I’ll make a post on here someday
