    Here’s some information:

I made this terrarium february 5th 2023. Had been collecting stuff for it for a while before. Since I live in a place where there isn’t a lot to choose from when it comes to making a terrarium, it’s not really the ideal and not exactly what I would’ve done if I had more options. But I love how it’s looking and am very proud of it!

    The build in layers:

False bottom using rocks and leca.
A plastic net to separate layers.
Normal houseplant potting soil mixed with activated charcoal.
    Some soil without charcoal.
    Wet (rehydrated?) dried sphagnum moss.
2 pieces of wood for hardscape (boiled).

    The plants:

At the start I only had the sphagnum moss and some fittonia as you can see in the pictures. My vision with this terrarium was mainly to revive the moss and have a mossy terrarium.

Then in march -23 i added asparagus fern (asparagus setaceus), lemon button fern (nephrolepis cordifolia) and another one I don’t know the name of + it didn’t do well and is barely alive. I might’ve also added the peperomia prostrata here, or a little later.

And after this, I think in october of 2023 maybe, I added some carnivorous plants. Right now I have drosera aliciae and drosera scorpioides, as you can see in the pics.

Oh and very recently I put in some leafless cuttings of adansonii, and they’ve done well. Not sure what to do when they grow bigger though. There’s also another peperomia (i think) but I don’t remember the name.

Please do let me know if I’m saying the wrong plant names or something.

There are also other plants in this terrarium that have popped up with the scorpioides, some kind of moss etc. and I don’t know what kind those are. If you know, please tell!

    Watering and light source:

I water sometimes when the moss looks dry, using just tap water that has been out for a day or more.

The light I use is just the aquarium light. A standard one I guess. This aquarium is about 60×30×30 cm.

Anyway, this build looked ugly for a long time before it started looking nice. The sphagnum moss turned green in some spots in march -23 but that wasn’t new sprouts, and NOT algae (I obviously checked). It honestly took until about a year ago until the moss actually got some new growth, and since then it’s been looking better and better. I used Spagmoss.

For maintenance I basically don’t do anything right now. I trimmed some of the fittonia today before these photos but that’s the first time I’ve trimmed in over 6 months. All I do is water on the moss when it starts looking dry.
