I have a birdsnest fern and have been pretty much only been watering it from the crown. Seems fine.

I say the same about african violets! I use the butt chug method for the ones that don’t like getting wet. Set in a bowl of water for 10-20 min.

  3. Easy. In the wild they’re outdoors, where airflow and sunlight help dry it off faster.

Wetting the crown shouldn’t rot it, it’s probably something else…

Is that a birds nest fern? They like to be root bound. Try a smaller pot — it’ll be happier anyway, with less water for it to steep in, to boot.

I have a theory, not backed by science because I’m dumb lol. But I think keeping plants in a cushy environment turns them into hypersensitive jerks that stop functioning because of the most minor change in environment.
